Membership
Membership Types
The following types of membership are available:
1. Individual Member
Eligibility
Individual Membership is open to any individual actively engaged in the conservation of monuments, groups of buildings or sites:
1. They may be a member of the scientific, technical or administrative staff of a national, regional or local monuments, fine arts or antiquities service.
2. They may be a decision-maker or as specialist engaged in the conservation, restoration, rehabilitation and enhancement of monuments, groups of buildings and sites.
3. They may be architects, urban planners, historians, archaeologists, ethnologists, archivists, material conservators, heritage managers and an individual engaged in any other profession or occupation that supports the aims and objective of ICOMOS.
4. Individual members must have at least three years of full time experience in one of the qualified fields.

- ICOMOS International membership card, which can be used for discounts for some historic properties, museums and heritage organizations internationally
- Voting rights in ICOMOS Bangladesh (after completing one full year as an Individual Member)
- Eligibility to contest for elections of Executive Committee (after completing two full years as an Individual Member*)

- Email news with information about national and international activities, current heritage issues and employment opportunities
- Opportunities to participate in national and international ICOMOS activities including the national and international Executive Committee and International Scientific Committees/expert panels and advisory committees

* An individual Member must serve at least one term in the Executive Committee before becoming eligible for the positions of President and General Secretary.
Application requirements
- A completed application form with signed nominations by one Full International Member of ICOMOS
- Agreement to adhere to the ICOMOS Ethical Principles. This can be done on the application form
- A statement of relevant professional experience
- A full Curriculum Vitae
2. Institutional Member
Eligibility
Institutional Membership is suitable for any organisation that:
- is a legal entity registered under an applicable law of Bangladesh for a minimum period of five years
- is concerned with the conservation, protection, restoration, rehabilitation, enhancement or animation of historical monuments, groups of buildings and sites
- owns or has in its charge historical monuments, groups of buildings and sites
- devotes all or part of its activity to one or more of the objectives listed above in relation to monuments, groups of buildings or sites
Please note that Institutional Membership does not provide the same benefits as being an Individual Member of ICOMOS. Professionals working in organisations as outlined above, who wish to access the full range of benefits of ICOMOS membership, are encouraged to apply as Individual Members.
Under the ICOMOS International Statutes, Institutional Members are not eligible to be members of the Executive Committee, International Scientific Committees or other ICOMOS committees. Institutional Members have the voting right in ICOMOS Bangladesh through a nominated representative.

Application requirements
- A completed application form (nominators are not required for Institutional Members)
- Demonstrated knowledge and support of the Ethical Commitment Statement
- Signed copy of the Ethical Commitment Statement for ICOMOS Members
- A statement outlining how the work of the organisation relates to the conservation of cultural heritage
- An organisational statement that describes the roles of key personnel in heritage conservation
- A Curriculum Vitae, prospectus or more detailed listing of relevant heritage projects or involvement and the names, qualifications and roles of all person(s) in the organisation who promote heritage conservation
3. Associate Member
Eligibility
People who do not meet the requirements for Individual Membership can be admitted as Associate Members until such time as they are able to qualify for Individual Membership. This category is also suitable for prospective members who are studying.
Individuals who have a professional interest in heritage conservation and who may undertake some work in this area, but do not have cultural heritage as their core focus, may also apply to be Associates.
Associate members pay a reduced fee from Individual members and receive all benefits of an ICOMOS Bangladesh member with the exception of voting rights for the Executive Committee and they are not eligible for contesting for election in the Executive Committee.

4. Student Member
Student Membership is a sub category of associate membership and is open to students pursuing post graduate and doctorate degrees in fields related to heritage conservation. They receive all benefits of an ICOMOS Bangladesh Associate member.
Application requirements
- A completed application form (nominators are not required for Student Members)
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Ethical Commitment Statement
- Signed copy of the Ethical Commitment Statement for ICOMOS Members
- A statement of relevant professional experience (if any)
- A full Curriculum Vitae
- Evidence of full time enrolment in a recognised course at the time of application and renewal is required.
5. Sustaining Member
Sustaining Membership is open to any individual or institution wishing to financially support the aims and activities of ICOMOS Bangladesh or to contribute to national or international co-operation in the field of the conservation of cultural heritage. This category of membership receives the same benefits of Associate Membership. Sustaining members are not eligible to vote in the elections for Executive Committee.
6. Honorary Member
Conferred solely by the ICOMOS International General Assembly in response to a proposal from an ICOMOS National Committee, upon individuals who have rendered outstanding services in the field of the conservation, restoration and enhance of monuments, groups of buildings and sites.
